ACCESSIBILITY: All exhibitions, tents and stages at the festival are wheelchair accessible; all portable restroom locations include accessible bathrooms and lighting. Parking may be reserved at Baltimoreparking.com. Visit lightcity.org for Light City’s complete accessibility guide. ADMISSION/LOCATION: The Light City festival is 100% free and open to the public, held outdoors along the waterfront from the Inner Harbor’s South Shore to Harbor East. Labs@LightCity is a pre-registered ticketed innovation conference; however, there are also no-cost tickets on lightcity.org that allow everyone to attend.

 

ATTENDANCE: In its first year, Light City drew 400,000 attendees to the festival; the daytime conferences will attract about 500 people per day.

 

ATMs: Temporary ATMs are located throughout the festival grounds, near most of our temporary food and beverage concession stands.

 

BALTIMORE OFFICE OF PROMOTION & THE ARTS (BOPA): Light City is produced by BOPA, a non-profit that serves as Baltimore City’s arts council, events agency and film office; www.promotionandarts.org.

 

BGE LIGHT ART WALK: The centerpiece of the festival, the BGE Light Art Walk features 58 attractions, including 23 original installations of light art, 50 concerts, 125 illuminated performances, eight food and beverage areas, activities for children, pop-up street theater and more. Nightly moments/themed processions kick off the fun each night at 8pm, starting at the Maryland Science Center and most often ending in Harbor East (except closing night/Saturday, April 8, which features a midnight special effects finale by Fireworks by Grucci).

 

BIKE PARKING ZONE: Bike parking is available on the back lawn of the Visitor Center, accessible via Light Street at Conway Street, or from the Jones Falls bike trail.

 

DATES & TIMES: Light City is open March 31-April 8 from 7-11pm and until 12am on Fridays & Saturdays. Starting at 5pm nightly, enjoy a twilight preview with entertainment at the Light Up the Night! Concert & Performance Stage and Mini Light City; also, food and beverage stands are open during this time. Labs@LightCity takes place 8am-6pm daily, with free Twilight events from 6-8pm (April 3-8).

 

ECONOMIC IMPACT ON BALTIMORE: In 2016, Light City generated $33.8 million in economic impact on Baltimore City.

 

FIRST AID: For minor first aid, visit a Guests Services tent (West Shore Park, near Aquarium Drive, outside of Pier 5 Hotel and Pier 7/East Falls Ave). If you require medical assistance, call Festival HQ at 443-807-7524. Direct all emergencies to 911.

 

INCLEMENT WEATHER: Light City takes place rain or shine. In the event of dangerously inclement weather, the festival will temporarily close and guests will be asked to shelter in place. This means to seek shelter inside until otherwise instructed.

 

LOST & FOUND-ITEMS: All items found will be turned into Festival Headquarters at Pier 5 Hotel where they can be claimed. Post-festival, those looking for lost items should call BOPA at 410-752-8632. Light City is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

 

PARKING: Festival-goers, contractors, vendor employees, crew, exhibitors, bartenders, artists, entertainers, sponsors and food concessionaires are all responsible for their own transportation/parking. Visit www.baltimoreparking.com for information about parking at the festival, and to reserve and pay for your space ahead of time.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION – MTA: Light Rail and Metro services will run one hour past the close of the festival each night. The nearest Light Rail stop is the Convention Center, and the nearest Metro stop is Baltimore and Charles streets (https://mta.maryland.gov/).

 

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION – BALTIMORE WATER TAXI: Operates 11am-11pm on weekdays and 11am-12am on weekends; www.baltimorewatertaxi.com.

 

RESTROOMS: Temporary restrooms and hand sanitizers are located throughout the festival: Rash Field, West Shore Park, and Pier 5 and Pier 6.

 

T-SHIRTS: The official Light City 2017 t-shirt is available for just $10 at all eight of the Light City beverage bar stands.

 

VOLUNTEERS: Report to the Pier 5 Hotel; all Labs@LightCity volunteers report to the IMET Columbus Center. All volunteers must be pre-registered; no walk-ups permitted.
